Amber393's Journal, 05 May 18

Day One of Keto is over. I know it's only 3 pm but my day begins at 230 am when I get up to go into work. I'm a cook in a nursing home and while I have had insight over the years to changing diets and diet trends I really stopped paying attention to my own health and my own eating. Well, that changed today.

Granted, my day might not be perfect keto but it is just the first day. Its a learning curve for sure but it makes sense, the information does. I'm also proud of myself for not drinking soda today. However, the headache from it really sucks.

My macros might not be hit spot on today and might not be perfect but I'm working with what I have on hand at work and at home.

I did stay right under 20 carbs so I'm pleased with that considering most of what's cooked at work is nothing but carbs with a little protein and veggie.

Tomorrow is another day. 🙂

Good approach, progress is progress and change is better when it is not associated with stress. I don't worry too much about my keto macros, just keep the carbs in the 20 range. It is hard to eat good veggies and stay under 20.

Great job!!! You have plenty of good wins on your first day, not drinking soda for example. Don't stress the details of your plan. Obsessing over exactly this or exactly that is a road to sabotaging one's self IMLTHO. Remember 'perfection is the enemy of progress'. Keep it rolling! Many Many peeps around bouts here have your back!

If you are staying under 20 net carbs you are doing great! Keep your water and electrolytes up! And your salt up much higher than you would normally think it shpuld be or you will bottom out on energy. You need a minimum of 64 fl oz of water a day. Make sure you get your magnesium as well. 🙋🏻

Well done you! Day one is one day further on than many manage. The headaches will go if you persevere but as SMP says, keep your salt levels up. Try a drink of hot bouillon now and then to help. Any quality stock cube in a mug of water would do or make your own. Personally I find a teaspoonful of Marmite in a mug of hot water works a treat ... it’s also good to give to people who drink black coffee 😈. All the best 👍🏻

I only did 50 g carbs to start with then when I stopped losing I went to 40, then 30 and finally 20. my keto flu lasted a good few weeks as I'd done Michael Moseley blood fasting diet first and that is basically keto too. Good luck. you will feel amazing in a few weeks 😊👍

I never had "Keto flu" - I read that having bouillon or salty broth 2 x per day would prevent it, and it worked for me.
