I decided I had ate too much last night and spent 55 minute on the elliptical with a 500 calorie program. Why is it when I bust by butt on the lliptical I always end up gaining that day? When I say I ate too much, I had 2 Cheddarwurst links for lunch, not till 2:00 because of work and then had 7 hot wings last night for dinner w/ celery dipped in ranch dressing. Lunch was about 6 grams and dinner about 15 grams. So, I figured the elliptical would take care of that but in the back of my head I knew that I was going too gain this morning. Blah!! I don't understand why walking and working out on the elliptical are so different for results. I would think the elliptical would be more because of being more of a total body since your ams are more involved..

Hello Bride2be, One you didn't eat near enough, it is your food choices that are hurting you. Second because of the limited amount of calories you are eating you are slowing your metabolism. This is further hurt by the excessive cardio, when you do this much cardio with no food you begin to loose muscle mass, which further slows your metabolism. You need to add in 3 days a week of resistance training and do 2 days a week of high intensity cardio. Determine your BMR(base metabolic rate) and reduce this by 500 calories. Next get the right amounts of the right foods. You need more carbs, lean protein and LOTS, LOTS more vegetables. Let me know if you want more details or check my page.
