Honestly, banting/keto has been the easiest lifestyle for me to follow because I am always full (and so not tempted to binge) and I do not feel deprived at all as I can have healthy treats that are within my macros (like Caring Candies chocolate, roasted & salted nuts, guacamole & seed cracker dips, etc.). Make sure to follow a macro split that is round about 75% fat, 5% carbs and 20% protein (mine varies slightly from day to day - but only by about 2-5%). Omelettes are my go-to lunch/dinner, and I always have a treat on hand in my bag (like a Woolies Carb Clever bar, a bag of nuts, a small bag of biltong, those Clover 25g cheese blocks, etc.). I would advise drinking at least 2 litres of water a day (or more!) because in the first 2 weeks you can be prone to headaches whilst you become keto adapted.

Also, don't focus too much on carbs (as they include fibre), pay more attention to net carbs. I easily manage to keep my net carbs under 20g a day (net carbs = carbs - fibre). x

You know what - for what it is worth - I just decided to eat ... For the most part - God's foods - that is - no preservatives, no canned stuff, none of those Banting bars - all that manufactured man made stuff - just eat whole foods - potatoes included etc. if I feel like something sweet I eat dried fruit that has no added sugar in it or fruit . It is a cheap normal way of eating. I have lost 11 kilograms since January - slow eAsy process. If I feel like bread I have sourdough bread as it is the most easily digestible. If I want chocolate I have dark. Never feel deprived. I used to crave sugar - not anymore - so .... What I am saying - there is so much to eat and no need to get obsessed with counting calories etc. no need to be hungry - dried fruit now tastes like a sweet to me .... Just saying

@Kim my husband is doing why you are doing, he has dropped a few kilos already, am nealousy🙈.I will relax a bit as soon as I reach my goal weight, I need to lose 10kg😢. The banting way has been easier to stick to. Am never starved plus I can eat all these yummy rich foods. 😀

Keep in mind that the body can be pushed into ketosis with up to 50g carbs a day; you just have have to burn off all of it, which is easily done by a brisk walk for 30mins or so. Under 20g of carbs is known as extreme keto, and is not necessarily superior to a normal keto day.

Thanks ThreeOh8 I won’t feel too guilty when I have consumed more than 20g carbs, as long as am under 50g.
