136/47 w/47 BG 112! Yes my husband's procedure went well and he feels a little sore but good! Thanks for the support! So I've been doing the nutritarian diet which I love and have been loosing weight when I really work at doing it right! However I am concerned about my BG numbers and decided to sub some lean grilled meats for the beans to try lowering it! So I've been listening to some of those doctors on PBS and on YouTube and there is so much difference in opinions except for when it comes to sugar and processed foods and how can we decide what is best! Meat causes cancer and veggies contain pesticides and even buying organic how do you know it really is. There are so many ideas about which diet is best high fat low carb, high carb low fat, whole food plant based and just calories in calories out and of course there can't be one diet fits all! What to do? How to pick? What the heck should I eat?, isn't that a book?

it is not easy and you know lowering your carbs lowers your BG so this is working for you. Lean meats and fish are good for you. I like salmon as it has the good fats we need. canned, in a pouch or fresh. chicken breasts are very lean if you are watching your fat. I am high fat low carb, so I prefer the chicken thighs. so many options for staying lean and mean. you can not get upset about what we really have no control over. wash your veggies and enjoy. we do the best we can.

Stop feeling overwhelmed. The best any of us can do is to begin and then modify as needed. So choose a way of eating that you are comfortable with and go from there. If after a week no change, modify it somewhat, then again so forth. If after 2-3 months you are not losing weight and BG is not coming down then change to another way of eating. For me the only way to keep me off of so many meds(read my bio for my diagnoses), is the LCHF keto diet.

I love the part of your comment "difference in opinions except for when it comes to sugar and processed foods" - seems like that is the biggest area of agreement, so I think if you used to eat those and are now cutting those out mostly, then you are on a better track than before - and that is an great start:) I get the same feeling sometimes of what the heck am I supposed to eat. I picked one direction that looked promising for me that I have not tried in the past, and I'm happy with my choice. I can see eating this way for life, so it's really less of a diet than a change in my eating habits. If I feel any negative reactions, I adjust my foods, just like you did with beans/meats. Keep watching the health markers that concern you and see how your adjustments affect them. If it works for you keep it up. If it really doesn't work over time, don't give up. Make another adjustment and see if it's a better match for you. Wish you all the best!

Thanks so much for your thoughts and encouragement! I went out tonight at Mexican food which I love but had the most wonderful grilled shrimp salad and used lemon as my dressing! I only had 2 chips with the hot sauce. I had a happy tummy!
