I didn't hear about this one, gelatin capsules, I might look into this.. I've been drinking those bone broth collagen, they say it's good for skin , joints. Now I read in the prevention magazine that your body will not absorb any of the collagen that you take.. what the heck! so I will check out the gelatin stuff. I need to tighten up my old skin at my age ..just turned 49.

If it sounds too good to be true— well, you know the drill.

If you are using it for your skin, use coco butter, shea butter blend with vasoline after shower. For hair and nails yes the gelatin capsules work very well, but usually see results after a week.

my doctor says to use coconut oil and no Vaseline since it's a fuel byproduct which makes your skin age faster.

Gelatin is a very low quality protein ..... think animal hooves and skin. It is completely broken down to its individual amino acid components in the gut. The amino acids are absorbed but are used by the body as it sees fit at that moment. Gelatin can be thought of as a synonym for collagen. As animals, we have collagen in the same places as our fellow mammals. Cartilage is the main collagen in our bodies that breaks down over time and the body is not good at repairing or replacing it. If it were, our joints would not become painful and creaky. Same for hair and nails. Too bad.

i don't drink coffee like most people. i mix 2 cups of coffee with a premiere protein drink every morning. i get 30 grams of protein and 160 calories with 5 grams of carbs. this is breakfast and my 1st snack. i'm really limited in what i can eat. my diet has cut out all carbs - pastas, breads, fruits, starchy veggies, beans, nuts, etc. i had to find a creative way to make it work, and it is working, very slowly.

Mjgh im using palmers coco butter with aloe and vitamin e on skin. I can't take fish oil for what ever reason it upsers my stomach. However I eat fish a couple times a week. Using garcinia cambogia with coconut oil, also taking vitamin c. My skin, nails and hair r so dry. I take alot of allergy meds, a water pill, and meds for the pmle. So all very dry, so hopung gelatin capsules help something. lol. Also taking prescription vitamins. My b12, d3, and potassium stay real low. I also drink 2 neuro drinks a day, I find I feel better when I do.

you can use coconut oil on your skin & nails. i spend a lot of time outside in the wind and it has helped my face from getting over dry. i was also told that coconut oil wouldn't cause me to burn when working in the sun. that doesn't make much sense to me but i haven't gotten burned all summer. You could add your coco butter and vitamin e to it also.

consider bone broth?? It is strongly collagen, you can make it with organic bones, boil for about 12 hours or buy it which is a bit expensive. People put it in a slow cooker so they don't have to constantly watch it. recipes on line if you want to add some seasonings.

I make both beef and chicken about once a week, incorporated it into dinner. Chicken noodle, beef n noodles, beef stew, veggie soup, chicken and dumplings, chicken gravy, chicken and rice. Alway boil meat with bone in, add my veggies and what not. I love soup, lol. Glad to know I'm getting a little extra with it.

Enjoy your bone broth. The collagen gives it a nice “mouth feel” but is completely broken down in the gut.
