OMG 78/62 w/78 only walked 3380 steps and had to quit, took BP when I got home. I'm only taking a half of one of my BP meds twice a day, but my doctor wants me to take a whole twice a day plus half of another. That's because when in her office my BP was 150s over 90s. What to do it happens all the time and I'm not sure she believes it! Then there's my BG last night before I went to dinner my BG was 93, I ate grilled salmon, green beans and I did have about a forth to half cup of mashed potatoes, no bread, water to drink a little hummus later, no chips and BG was 141 this morning. We eat about 5:30 and need a small snack a couple hours later sometimes! I was eating the veggie plate but to help BG started having grilled meat for protein instead of beans! So hope you guys are having a great day!

When I go to the dentist my blood pressure is always high - I know it is just the stress of going out since I am normally in my home - I can actually feel it and when I am home that feeling goes away

Same "white coat fever" here too. I've checked my bp at home on both my and my husband's bp machines, always low at home. But just thinking of a visit to my doctor makes it rise. So many others have this , you'd think the dics would understand.

you can keep a log to show the doctor with the times of the day you check yourself. make sure you protect yourself too if you are low and concerned about too much meds. YOu are still adjusting your diet and I am sure you will see ups and downs and that also helps guide your choices with food. it is great you are tracking everything

You might bring your home bp device to the Drs office too for back-to-back readings so they can determine that your device's readings match up with theirs.

Thanks guys yes I have taken my monitor in to compare and I've kept logs quite a few times, but very good advice!

I used my fitness tracker to finally get it through my doctor's head about my boss and pulse and such. my BP is always slightly elevated but my pulse had always been erratic and would jump from 130 to 60 within a matter of seconds and it made me feel terrible for years. after I saw my mom's Fitbit I got me a cheap one off of Amazon and checked it against my Dr monitor and then when I went in I showed him. what I meant and he finally put me on a med to stabilize my heart rate. after 20 years and several Drs I'm finally feeling a little bit better. if you get a fitness tracker you can log in on ur tracker with your computer and print out ur heart rate and stuff. take that and your body monitor to the Dr.

BG is frequently high in the morning, read about the Dawn Phenomenon - caused by circadian rythym and hormone levels. Also, excess protein can be converted to glucose via gluconeogenesis.

you are correct gz9, dawn effect is a given, everyone has one. and once you eat a meal it will go down if you don't eat something that increases the insulin spike. protein has a minor effect on insulin production, carbs on the other hand spike it. fat has relatively no effect on insulin production. knowing this helps plan your meals, especially when you are trying to reduce your insulin production.

getting some healthy oils or fats in your dinner meal will help with getting hungry later. fat satisfy hunger better than carbs do. so try adding some butter to the salmon or veggies. I had a 65 gm hamburger today with a pat of butter on it and I was totally happy and I worked out a lot before the meal. It was a little lite for me but I just wasn't that hungry.
