Tonight a friend asked me to explain Atkins to her. She tried to find one of our new books at a used book store so I told her I would give her my copy of the old book so she can try Atkins. I tried to explain the plan but she loves fruit and milk so I don't know if she will be able to stick it out. I explained no fruit in the first two weeks and she said OK. She is pre-diabetic and could really use this plan. I was really proud that someone used me as an example to follow. My friends are now recommending Atkins because of my weight loss. Before I started they were mostly critical of it. The funny thing was I was tempted to eat pie tonight because I was stuck waiting at the restaurant by myself when I was hungry. I just hurried and ordered and ate what I planned so I made it through OK. Tonight I did not plan very well which is not good so when I tried to eat I was too hungry and making less than perfect choices. I had about 27 carbs but my calories were OK. I ate some Ry Krisp crackers tonight and I am starting to feel some cravings. They were no big thrill - not worth the carbs - I'd rather have fruit.
I shouldn't have tried a new food tonight because I had cravings last night also and I haven't narrowed down the source yet although I think it was the almonds. I just wanted something to put the peanut butter on. So now it's 12:30 and I've eaten everything I should and I am craving food. Oh well. I'll just go to bed.

That is awesome that others are so impressed by your loss, that they now want to try it themselves. You must be thrilled!! And I agree about the rye crisps. Good night, sweet lady!

Hey..recommend "Atkins Diabetic Revolution" to your friend. The Diabetics on the Atkins board recommend it to all diabetics (and pre-diabetics)

I am in agreement with Denise, the Atkins Diabetic Revolution is the way to go for your friend or anyone else in this situation. Congrats on being able to lead by your example. Not only does it show you are succeeding but it's so much nicer to have others in your life doing this with you. Your doing great my friend. As far as the rye crisps, I would try avoiding these for now. Do you like celery? I love celery and peanut butter. Just an option.
