About... 2 months ago, I bought a size 36 corset from a thrift store for $8. It was probably just worn for a wedding and that's it since it was in excellent condition. I've been wanting one for a long time for costuming and I don't have the money to spend on the one I'd really want ($100 for an underbust) so I got it. It didn't fit me AT ALL so I just stashed it away in hopes of being able to use it later.
After about 10lbs, I took some measurements and noticed that I can get the measuring tape to 37 around my waist but it was tight. I figured I'd give the corset another shot. It wasn't easy and it's laced up as wide as possible in the back using the existing strings (roughly 4" apart), but I'm wearing it right now.
HURRAY.
FYI, I had a 40" waist in January. :3
Also, a costume I made about...3 weeks ago now fits me loosely. I may have to take it in pretty soon here. In pictures, the seams looked like they were under a lot of stress.
