So I just heard the fiance on the phone with his mom. His parents will be arriving just after my birthday and leaving the week before Christmas. He told her that while they are welcome to stay here with us they should have a hotel in mind because if either of them say a word about what I eat (or chose not to) they will be leaving our home immediately.
I have always had a very good relationship with his parents. They chose to move away and move closer to their golden child about 10 years ago. In those 10 years we have made the effort to visit at least twice a year (10 hour drive) even though neither of us got much time off or make much money, many times I worked a 60 hour week finished on saturday night and drove all night to get there just to spend 2 days and drive home. His brother always seemed to be inconvenienced by our visits having to make time to see his children when his wifes family (who see the kids all the time) had other plans.
Last year I was snapped at and accused of being immature for walking out of a room where 2 people were screaming at each other. I got up quietly, walked to our room and sat on the bed, yet somehow that was my fault. Once we packed up (early) and headed home I told him I wasnt going there again.
So here we are, a year later and they are making to effort to come here. And he is still standing his ground and giving me his 💯% support.
