Urgh, here we go again with another 12 hour shift in work.....reporting on the delights and delectations of the UK's roads....wonderful.

I've had a couple of slices of toast so far....and two cups of tea....I'm hoping I can stay on some kind of track today but I do find it difficult with such a long a shift :S

I did the shopping yesterday, normally don't do it it Monday so it feels good that it's all done and dusted. This week's menu consists of sweetcorn soup for lunches and for dinners: cauliflower and potato curry, vegetarian laksa and veggie chilli....all new recipes so it makes for an exciting week. I must get myself sorted on the exercise front again as well.

One big change this week is that, after today, it's going to be a bread free week! It always makes me feel bloated and uncomfortable, as much as I love the stuff, so I'm going to see what a difference it can make if I cut it out.

As from Thursday I have no car for about 6 weeks. Shock horror I know! My old one has failed it's MOT and I am awaiting delivery on a new one but it's not due until 12th June. It will interesting....to see how I get on without it, to say the least! It may do my weight loss a lot of good...or it could just drive me insane (excuse the drive pun.....I won't be driving anywhere!).

So that's it for today so far......have a wonderful Sunday everyone. I hope your weather is better than ours - dark, dull, dreary and wet....must be in Manchester! hehehehe

Sounds like you have your week planned out. I wish I were better at doing that. That's great that you're going to do away with bread for a week. I had to do that with soda. I feel much better and it is a real treat when I have one now. Are you close enough to walk to places without your car? Good luck at work and have a great day!! It's great that you have planned ahead.

Thank you :) I've made a bad start with my lunch choices today! Hehehe It's pouring with rain so i ran over to the cafe across the road and had a jacket potato with veg massala - it was delish but I have no idea as to the point value...it didn't seem very oily and was mainly beans, veg and lentils...I don't think it was too bad. however the huge home made chocolate brownie I coudn't resist for dessert wasn't a wise choice. It was, however, quite heavenly and I am now fully set up for the rest of my long shift. I'm still positive for the rest of the week!!! As for my carless status...I should manage fairly well. One of the other school mums has very kindly offered her help with getting my son to and from school most days - only 3 journeys a week left to sort there - I can get into town on the bus fairly easily or if the weather is OK it takes about 30 mins to walk. As I said, it may do me the world of good!!!

It sounds like you're doing great with the planning. I find that's half the battle... but just so time consuming trying to plan the week ahead. Grahh... I hated last week when I was back at work and having to get all my lunch packed the day before. So much just like to eat what I fancy on the "day", but hey-ho... guess can't have everything! That will be interesting to see how not eating bread may make a difference... it could well be that you are sensitive to it. Don't know if you like pasta... but I often make some little pasta dishes to take for my lunch - things like tuna, chopped tomatoes and about 36g of wholewheat pasta. I've found courgettes (zucchini - US) a great thing to add to the ingredients - very low calories, but I've found them really good for filling me up! I know that you're vegetarian... so you might not eat fish... but I make something similar with vegetarian quorn mince. I'll add this recipe to my cookbook shortly as it's yummy! :o) Aw, sorry to hear that you're car failed it's MOT and you're now going to have to wait a while for another one. I'm sure the walking will do you good though and just think of all the petrol money you will save. Well, sounds like your weather isn't any better than ours here in Plymouth at the moment... we are currently lost in a thick fog... so so much for our plans to go out today! Hope you're day at work goes quick and you have a nice day. :o)

Ah, the dreaded 12 hour shift! And a brownie snuck in somehow. Evil brownie. Interesting about the plan to give up bread. As Moonlite suggested, you might have a sensitivity to wheat. I am sure you would notice a difference even with a lowered intake but perhaps it would be worth going a week wheat-free. Then if you add it back in and experience discomfort or other symptoms you will know. I know food sensitivities can lead to weight problems so it is worthwhile investigating. That must be rough to do without your car for 6 weeks. I balk when mine is in the shop for a day or two! But the walking will definitely be benficial. Who knows? They say it take about a month to make a new activity a habit. Maybe this will create some new walking habits that you didn't have before. Enjoy your rain. It makes all things lush and green! P.S. How are the chickens doing?

I'm coming round to the 'no car' thing...I think! lol It will certainly be an experience! I will have to think 'out of the box' if you like and find new ways around. I'll keep you updated by journaling away, don't you worry! lol As for the bread, I have cut it out before, albeit not always intentionally but I have noticed a difference. Certainly I felt more bloated once I start eating it again. This week will be a concerted effort. I'm just getting rid of the bread to start with and keeping everything else. We'll see if it makes a difference! The chickens are coming on really well! Matilda has grown back so many feathers now - she actually looks like a 'proper' chicken! Coconut has more feathers coming through and Mavis is still bald as a coot but is happy and laying everyday! The other two have stopped laying as their new feathers make an appearance!
