Mama Pajama's Journal, 15 Apr 19

ok, I've gone completely off the rails for a few days. eating whatever whenever, and it feels just as bad as over-analyzing every calorie...I made an appointment with a nutritionist, but it's not for 2 more weeks, so I've got to try and keep a lid on it for at least that long, and read all the nice comments I got on my last entry (I think there were some tips and tricks in there). I need to get a handle on this...I'm not dropping 100 pounds overnight, and I'm not sabotaging the success I've already had. I need to find a balance; something that works for me for the long term. I may have to learn how to cook bigger meals, so there's always something healthy on hand. protein & veggies. that's it. stay away from the snacks and treats. simple.

Do you know why you are binge eating? I have a combination of anxiety and depression along with recovery from substance abuse. When I stopped drinking, I replaced my nightly drinking with binge-eating and gained 100 pounds over about a year. In my humble opinion, if we are able to identify the "trigger" to our binge-eating, and find ways to stop the binge before it starts, is the first step to weight loss for us binge type eaters. This is information I have learned from my 1.5 years in therapy. In no way am I a professional.

I think the nutritionist should have some helpful tips. In the meantime, I would try to journal on Fatsecret or even just read others' posts when you feel like bingeing. Other things like taking a walk, calling a friend or playing a game on your phone/computer can also distract you from a binge. Hugs your way.

That simple...you reminded me of when my mom said “stay away from that boy” made me want to date him even more 🤔

See where I’m heading? The more you say you will simply stay away, the more you will come back to it

Have you ever thought of learning how to eat a serving size of a snack?

All you can do is to keep trying. Try substituting almonds for snack, just be careful how many you eat, or string cheese or beef sticks, or boiled eggs. As you can see I subscribe to the low carb healthy eating (worked for me), until you can get to the nutritionist. I also love to have a protein shake, my personal favorite is Xyngular Lean. Just keep trying until you find what works for you. Logging everything you eat on here is a great thing to do, just make sure you actually log EVERYTHING. I always want to not count something if I have 'just a bite' of something but those count too!!!

We all have had few days where we have slipped and overeaten. That's fine. It's important to not feel bad about yourself. Have a look at the photo of yours or the memory of why you are on the road to lose the weight. Feel confident you will do it, so many people on this app are on the same road as you, lending their support. Decide to stop eating and lose the weight and you will!! feel proud of yourself for already losing so much!! We all are proud of you! 😁😁😁😍🤩👏👍

You named it .... Balance .... but losing weight is also about consistency & will power. We need to make it a priority on our “bucket” list!!!

Good luck with the nutritionist; hopefully they'll have the advice you need to get you where you want to go.
