Frustrating workout yesterday. During the bench press, the problem shoulder starting making...unnerving noises during the lifts. Lots of crunching sounds, like gears grinding together. It wasn't painful, but it sounded so bizarre and abnormal that it didn't seem wise to finish out that lift.
Time to call the ortho and ask. I have a sinking feeling this is going to end with a choice between elective surgery and not being able to bench press again. Which is a choice I do not want to make. Keeping the fingers crossed though.

I don't remember parts breaking down at this rate 20 years ago. Someone should do something about this "aging" nonsense.

I think there should be an extended warranty to sign on our parts if we're smart enough to use them!!

yuck. awful choice. hopefully there's some newly discovered magic herb in the jungles of the amazon that can be made into a paste and rubbed on the joint to fix it.

That would be nice Jess. I know there are magic herbs that can be applied so that I don't -care- if the joint is fixed, but I suppose that isn't the best long-term solution...

Ooh that doesn't sound good, Nimm. I know the tog sounds. I have them in my knee. What about a bench shirt, like an inzer Phenom or something. Would that help? I would definitely see the doc though and maybe do a deep tissue massage? My massage therapist is 10 times the healer than any of my doctors. Also, my trainer swears by a good chiro, he always says "lifting isn't just about breaking things, it's also about the recovery.". For him, that's profound. Ha.

Hopefully a good massage will be the prescription. At least there was no pain.

Yikes! I hope everything is ok. If you talk to your doctor, I'd be curious to know what he/she said.
