I got a pedometer/heart monitor/watch yesterday and today is my first day using it. So far I like it more than I dislike it. The pedometer function does keep shutting off, but I think it may be due to inactivity. I've noticed that its off when I drive for a long time, and it was off after I spent some time on the computer. I'll have to look into if that's normal or not. Anyhow, the recommended amount of steps for a day is 10,000 and I'm at almost half that without even trying today. That sounds kind of good until you realize that I'm not really doing anything that will add too many steps for the rest of the day. I may go for a walk with the kids later, which might add enough. I'm mostly just trying to get a feel for what I normally do, so I know what I need to add to my day.

Also, right now I feel like I'm doing really well with my diet. I'm getting my target calories/fat/protein/carbs for the day. I guess I don't know that I can totally credit Medifast, but they did set up the rules. I dont like some of the things about Medifast right now, and some things that aren't 100% spelled out as the recommended foods are still allowed in one way or another. I've already planned the rest of what I'm eating today, and I was able to find the right Medifast meal to have as a snack to get all the right amounts of what I need for the day. I have lots of food still coming to me too! I'm going to have a broccoli omelet (using Medifast eggs) with mozzarella and a side salad with feta cheese for dinner. SO looking forward to that!!! Then I plan to have the Medifast Parmesan Cheese Puffs later when I go see a movie with friends. I'm hoping that will feel enough like popcorn that I wont miss the real thing.

So with all of that Medifast in my day, why am I complaining? I think I could get more bang for my buck in other ways. Both because I think I could buy less expensive foods, and because I think I could eat MORE foods that taste less artificial. I got my Netrition order today and I'm super excited to try some of the foods that I found on there. I'll have to eat those foods instead of Medifast, but I'll try to keep all of my quotas the same and basically do everything just like I have been. I feel a little bad that I haven't mentioned any of this to my Medifast Health Coach, but I guess it will come out eventually. Maybe once I try it I can mention it.
