First post here at FS.com. I'm reallllly freaking nervous. I've been overweight my entire life, I just got my licence yesterday so it's time for a new start... But the only question is... how do I start?

I'm 16, 6'0, 330lbs, don't pay the rent or buy food (aka I don't have a say in what's for supper.) I have no idea what to do at the gym, and I have no idea what to eat. ( I don't eat eggs or veggies...)

I love fruit and prefer it more than chocolate/ice cream, but it's getting to be very expensive. Lately I've been forgetting to drink water (usually accompanied by 5cal sweetner) so I need to start doing that again.. I really am just very, very overwhelmed... And I'm too lazy to track down what I do. So there goes that.

Your best bet is to track your food intake on here. There is a calculator which can help figure out how many calories a day you should consume (but you should use it as a guideline). You might start at 2000 a day and see what happens. As you lose weight, you will need to reduce the calories. You may also need to play around with them and see what works best for you. Talk with your mom and explain how you are trying to eat healthier and see if she will help. If not, concentrate on portions. Measure out your food if you need to. Just cutting down on portions will help and get plenty of fruits. I can't believe that there is not one veggie you like to eat. Your tastes change as you get older so keep trying different ones. You can also learn to cook and offer to cook a few meals for you mom. You have to really want this and be willing to work at it to lose. As far as exercise, start slow and build on it. If you have access to a gym, start by walking on the treadmill. You can start with a mile and build up a little more each week. You can alternate the treadmill with the eliptical or bike so you use different muscles. You can walk outside. Losing weight is hard and takes a lot of work. Good luck!
