Hey,

I hope everyone is staying happy and healthy during this awful time. I was just wondering if anyone could answer this question for me?
I find that when I work out, my weight doesn’t seem to budge. But when I have a brake from working out the scales start to drop? Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

It is probably because you are adding muscle nothing to worry about.

Jo it makes you even more beautiful and with more muscle definition on your legs you can run faster away from me!💗

Good question, sorry I don’t know answer . When I went to the gym a few year ago now, I was told exercise one day rest the next day, was the way to do it. I know muscle is heavier that fat but it take a lot of exercise to build a little amount of muscle , and I’m talking month’s not a few days. Happy Saturday

They key to losing weight is to stay of the scales the an as long as ur in a caloric deficit below ur maintenance calories ul lose weight faster or slower depends how much calories u choose to cut so if u weigh 120lbs an ur calories to maintain that weigh is say 1800 cals the if u reduce ur cals by 300 and only consume 1500 cals u will lose weight until u plato then u will need to cut cals again or up cardio a bit of both is best

Muscles weighs more than fat you might just be building muscle

Louisa it is very unlikely this is due to muscle gain. Women can only gain around 1 pound of muscle a month. However, when you work out the muscles retain water and create certain enzymes which will stop you losing weight but that doesn't mean you do not loose fat. Research this on google and there are loads of professional advice on why we do not loose weight when doing exercise at the beginning, this should change after a while. hope this helps

Hi Pixi-Dust Thank you, I’ve had a little look, and looks like your correct. People start to recommend actually measuring yourself instead of relying on the scales once you start to get closer to your ideal weight. So I’ve measured the inches around my waist, upper thighs, hips, chest and arms. I’m guessing this will be the best indication of fat loss. I’ve also read that the last stone is the hardest to shift. I’m currently 8st 9.6 my goal was 8st, but I’m thinking maybe that actually won’t happen if I’m weight training as well as doing cardio 3 times a week. I will eventually start building more and more muscle. With everything going on like it is I’ve probably not even been eating 1,000 calories which isn’t good. I’ve had a week off from working out, and I’ve ended up losing a pound today, probably will lose another by tomorrow lol. I’m guessing that will be the water retention going. But as I haven’t been as active I’ve just been eating when hungry and sticking to healthy foods.
