Hello FatSecret family! I just started my weight loss after gaining during quarantine. Any tips on what I can do to help the process?

I'm way late! The principles of most healthy eating styles are including all food groups, focusing on fruits and veg, and portion control for more indulgent meals. I'm basing that on Mediterranean, DASH, TLC, MyPlate and MIND diet principles. It also helps to have a balance of carbs/fiber (fruit, grains), fats (oils, butter, dairy, nuts, nut butters), and protein (meat, fish, beans, dairy, grains) to make your meals nutrient dense and satiating. That can also apply to snacks (i.e. having an apple and peanut butter instead of just an apple or just peanut butter). This keeps you from getting hungry too soon and overeating. Having water or watery foods like soup or fruit help keep you satisfied longer. If you get too busy to cook, prepping ingredients for a quick bowl or salad can help you avoid fast food or takeout. I'm still working on applying these principles myself, so just remember it's your efforts over time that will build healthy habits and help reach your goal. Good luck!
