Tamaralynn0480's Journal, 17 Jul 13

I'm officially blown away. I've always dealt with high bp and obesity (well 90% of my life).

I was always the fat kid at school that got picked last (only because they HAD to pick me), and made excuses to get out of gym. I hated activity of any sort unless it got me what I wanted.

Well... last July I went for a Physical.

I was 244 lbs, my BP was 170/90, HR was 120bpm resting, My hair was falling out, I was literally exhausted to the point of falling asleep at my desk at work, I was sick all the time.

My doctor gave me heck, referred me to a dietician, ordered me to quit smoking (made me sign a waiver that I would quit) and demanded I returned to the gym - finding time to go.

Exactly one year later My BP is now 110/58, restign HR is now 68. I've been told I now have the heart of an athlete! Holy dinah! I never dreamed of the possibility I would be labelled as an Athlete!

Now my body just needs to catch up :)

Thanks :) Hoping it'll inspire my sweetie. He's quitting smoking in the next week - and he has really bad hypertension (needs 3 meds to control it). So hoping it'll help him too :) Otherwise, he has a VERY physically demanding job and is in amazing shape.

Have to say - I was also being considered as one of the stars of a documentary for someone who was changing their lifestyle. When I told them I had just quit smoking and was using hypnosis - they didnt' beleive that I would be able to lose weight/exercise... so they turned me down. Almost tempted to get another physical and send them the results from the doctor. Cant do it my arse... goes to show them!

Im going on 6 months not smoking, which was considerably easier than forcing myself to exercise. (one thing I have yet to master) Thats awesome about your physical! Congrats for sure!

Good job :) Yeah it'll be 6 months for me on Aug 6th. I Agree MUCH easier to quit smoking than losing weight. For smoking you never HAVE to smoke again. You do HAVE to eat to live.
