Been a very bad few weeks. I was doing great. Ready for the triathlon. Down to a perfect weight. And then I got hit with allergies (or more probably, 'food sensitivities. I've been sluggish or worse for weeks and have been eating non stop (one of the symptoms but still depressing as hell). I don't know that I'm 'ready to hit it'. I hope I am. But I've been put back a few months and this seems to happen constantly. I'm on a food elimination diet now. I know I can't eat dairy, oats, or brown sugar. Unfortunately, every time I hit something I'm 'sensitive' to (now that I know what it is), I lose a week to 10 days recuperating. The positive side is generally if I can go 6 months without eating whatever it is causing the problem, I can slowly reintroduce it into my diet. I'm finding that it is almost impossible to go 6 WEEKS without eating dairy. It's in everything. And there are birthdays, and weddings, and holidays that require eating out. Even if a cook says 'no dairy' - I find that there is still dairy. Some don't remember that butter is dairy. Some used canned foods with 'caramelized' gravy. Some don't realize that margarine has dairy in it. So you can't just ask the cook because they really haven't a clue. Last night I went out for a friends birthday and had spaghetti and lima beans (strange but the two 'safest' items on the menu). They swore there was no dairy. I'm hoping they're right. So far I seem to be fine. I'll know in a couple days. This sucks. I'm also trying to cut out gluten, but I don't have a gluten intolerance so it's just because all the diets say to stop eating it. And I can't really be positive so ..... Again. This sucks.
