Hi Dae, I have watched it but then I also read the reviews about the documentary as it also gave me a different outlook on a vegan diet. Cos they have Arnold talking about going meat free on some days, but they don't give any air time to the fact that he also eats meat on other days.

Hi, seen the documentry, some good info but a lot of cherry picked studies and the lifting guys that were chosen most likely have “pharmaceutical genetics“ which tends to paint a skew picture in terms of what is actually achievable with this type of diet

Hey Daé, (been wanting to do that rhyme for a bit😁). I watched it and listened to many of the plant based diet advocates as well. Like 1Georgie says, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. It still comes down to less is more.. of ALL food groups. This isn't really news in most non- western countries. A very high animal sources diet is whats New and a legacy of western prosperity. Most of the world's population such as India and Africa as well as various islands subsist on largely grain and other plant based diets as their main foods as a matter of course. But with increased prosperity worldwide, global culture(Westernized diets) human rights and equality , it's become clear that the demand for animal products is unsustainable for the environment. ie. If EVERYONE is going to have animal products at every meal, it's a disaster right! That may just be the real issue here, not taking anything away from the science that says red meat in excess isn't what anyone should be eating. I started eating vegetarian recently. I just find it more palatable. I was also influenced by the environmentalists and animal rights activists to some degree. I'm just not going at it religiously or fervently. I eat dairy and eggs, just not a ton! I am in favour of everyone doing an Arnie! Best wishes!

I haven't seen it, but I've read an amazing book called Eat & Run, which is about an champion ultramarathon runner who became vegan. Really great book, even if you're not interested in veganism or running.

Hey Daé, I forgot to say that going vegan will definitely accelerate weight loss but only if you are 'plant based'. There are tons of meat alternatives and for the most part, they are very unhealthy... processed, multiple ingredients and shelf life preservatives etc. If you want to go this route, research extensively and may I recommend looking into 'volume eating'. Basically, plant foods are more nutrient dense and filling while packing less calories per bite than anything else. Most people have success eating like this as their stomach still stretches and they feel satiated. May also think about including dairy & eggs so you don't need to supplement so much. The best way is to ease into it by slowly eating no meat meals and increase these. Keep us posted!

As long as going vegan doesn't equate to becoming a "carb"ivore. My boss has been vegan for three years and has gained about 15kgs because he is rarely ever prepared and eats a shed load of bread and pasta to feel satiated 🥐🍞🥖🥯🧇🥨 #breadzels and avo are his life... Delicious but not so much nutritious 😂😂😂

Guys while we've got fat free popcorn and are at the (Netflix) MOVIES, add 'What the Health' to your list. I can't recall much, but it's in the same vein. Happy flieking. 😊
