When does the dieting get easier guys? I'm really struggling again 🥺 bad food is just so tempting and easy, I'm literally arguing with myself saying I don't need it but I want it. What can I do to kick my arse into gear? I knew it'd be hard but it's so much harder than I thought. Temptation is everywhere.. Bloody Boris and his eat out to help out 🙄 I don't want to fail, but I'm really struggling at the moment

Haha! You’ve made me laugh with the eat out thing... I am glad that eating out doesn’t affect me at all in fact I find it somewhat uncomfortable due to my anxiety but I completely agree with you, eating what we shouldn’t is so damaging us. I can only suggest what worked for me and that’s exercise whether you want to go for a walk, a jog or join a gym... this will reduce the calories you are eating and will also make you more conscious about the effort needed to burn those calories. Don’t punish yourself too much, try and skip that last mouthful or a soft drink etc you will soon see a small result that will motivate you to go for a bigger one, remember baby steps will take you where you aim to xx

hey. you need to change your mind set. Diets don't work long term. You need to change your eating habits for life, otherwise once you stop dieting, you'll pile the weight back on x

Asrih & Gilly, I didn't use it too much but it was a major temptation in my house. I've been walking a lot more since being back at work, I try walk the longer way home. It's only an extra 10 minutes but it's something. It's food that's the issue, when it's cold and I'm tired from work and can't be bothered to cook, delivery can be here in about 15 minutes. It's not an excuse I know. Im just having another wobble I think, I'm trying not to get into the yo yo dieting though, hopefully can talk myself round again and do better 🙂

I know it's easy to slip into bad habits. I make no excuse about mine. I basically couldn't be bothered and wasn't in the right frame of mind to care. Big wake up call when I stood on the scales after 2 months and now giving it my best shot! You will get all of the encouragement you need on here. I've been on this site for 7 years and met some lovely friends who have supported me through thick and thin. Good luck!

We sometimes need to feel right about it and I am sure you will and get back on track again! the amount of kilos you already lost isn’t an easy thing to do... please don’t beat up yourself and enjoy your take aways maybe try healthier options and portion control.

I exercise more than I diet, I find that since starting working out 3 months ago I'm making healthy choices subconsciously. I'm not too strict on my eating either, on a Friday or Saturday I'll have a cheat day and eat out or have some crisps or chocolate. It's not about stopping completely just limit the amount of unhealthy things you're eating everyone is different so make little steps instead of going all in. Have a salad one day for lunch and try meal planning, I find that helps a lot. You'll get there just remember it takes time and everyone's weight loss journey is different x

Yes Amy and we are all different. Short/tall. Old/young. Fit/unfit. What is right for one person may not be right for someone else. It's easy to dish out advice but we all need to find our own levels. The word 'diet' in itself is quite depressing. If you go over one day then cut back the next day. That's the beauty of this site. Lasagne is one of our stars, she will be able to give lots of advice as she has been on a remarkable journey. And Yasmine, and George.... the list is endless. You go girl!

Had you tried sticking to vegetarian when eating out? That helps me a lot

I've told my partner one more takeaway then I'm deleting all apps from my phone and this will be the last time. I think maybe I need a break, but only a few days? When I struggle like this my mental health deteriorates quickly, and that's something I've also struggled with for the last 10/15 years so I will have a break for a day or two then continue I think, maybe it'll help. Everyone on here has been very encouraging and supportive and goes a long way, but as mentioned, if you're not in the right frame of mind you're fighting a losing battle. Point, I was vegetarian for 12 years, only stopped in the last year or so and actually have eaten better since then as I have many more options. Unfortunately veggie didn't agree with me as I'm a bit of a picky eater

I completely understand where your coming from wings, your like a mirror image of me. I've just gobbled up a takeaway pizza tonight, now I feel like crap. Reading your post and everyone's comments has made me think of why I'm like this, and the truth is I'm lazy and easily led by my boyfriend. It's OK for him his job is very active so he can eat what he wants, my job entails sitting at a desk for 9 hours and only moving to go to the loo 😕. Every Monday I say I'm going to start again... this week I'm going to do a full week... but it never happens. Lately I'm started to think i will never lose weight, maybe I'm just not ready. Just remember we are in the same boat and we need to pull together and help each other as best we can. Like Gilly said there's a lot of successful girls and boys on this brilliant app, one day we will be one of them!!! Tomorrow we will start again x

I just checked how much you’ve lost and you’ve nearly lost 20kg Your doing so well and to be honest I took my foot of the gas at just under 20kg as well but I never gave up so keep strong 💪

Funnyonion, it's a vicious cycle isn't it. I eat because I'm unhappy with the way I am, I'm unhappy with the way I am because I eat. I truly want to be one of those amazing people that achieve their goal, and hopefully our day will come. I'm having a break for a day or two to take the pressure off, but I will get back on it

Razor thank you, I was very proud of it as its the most I've ever lost. It has become a struggle lately but it was never going to be easy. A quick break and then back on it, hopefully mentally recharged and ready to go 💪

Very interesting point. I guess it makes sense. I hope you can weather the bad period.

It’s so hard when you’re eating with others 😖 my 6’4 other half (also now on a diet) is a bad influence too. Ditch the apps and make sure you always have something that’s ready at home in a few minutes. Stir fry’s and one-pots meals are perfect, straight from the freezer. You can weigh and add in different quantities of veg/meat/carbs for you vs others. Remember that over-eating is a much more common disorder than under-eating and there’s no quick fix. Just like Lasagne and Gilly said, you’ve got to change your relationship with food and that will take work. Start by feeding your brain with vitamin rich whole foods that will give you a slower release of energy and the vitamins your brain really needs to feel good. I promise it will make things so much easier. Razor is right, you’ve done really well so far! Don’t give up. Xx

It does get easier, but it will take time to get to that point. I honestly can't pinpoint exactly when it got easier for me, but it was probably around month 3 of changing my eating habits. And that was without a single bad thing. Distraction was key for me. I started cross stitching, which is enough to keep me going. I generally don't believe in not treating yourself though. Occasionally I will still treat myself to a takeaway every now and then. You just can't allow yourself to turn treat day into treat week! Remember, changing your diet isn't easy. Your body is going to crave all the things you're leaving behind and that's normal. It will get used to your new diet eventually. You won't have those craving anymore, but you've got to force yourself to keep it up. Good luck!

Gemstar that's very true. I think that was part of the problem. Cheat day turned into cheat weekend, which just ruined all the hard work from the previous week. For now, I'm not having an unhealthy treat until I'm back on track. I didn't do a meal plan for this week as I forgot and that kind of threw me a bit. I like setting out meals for the week and I enjoy cooking, and I like the healthy things I've been making so definitely that will be happening next week, hopefully that helps. Thank you

Perhaps try adjusting the mindset from I’m on a diet, to I’ve adopted a new lifestyle. The thought of a diet ending once the weight comes off is enough to sabotage anyone’s efforts, experienced or pro. XX

Lol. Try to eat a meal rather than snack on goodies. It’s hard and I don’t always follow my own advice. If I do snack I make it something small like 1 or 2 biscuits.
