My goal was to work out 6x/week but after this week I've been having at work, I just do NOT have it in me. I am a nurse and things just have not been going right. 2 horrible days out of 4? I thought today would be better being that it was my last day this week and I get this weekend off but boy was I wrong! There must be a full moon tonight....at least that is what we always say when people are acting up like that. I have had a pounding migraine since 0830 this morning and nothing is even touching it. I am just so glad to get out of that place! I am a new nurse and the way this week has gone is making me question this profession. I am really going to start looking to get out of the nursing home setting and get into an acute care/hospital/ER/OB/ICU setting. There is no way nursing is really like this...it can't be...unless this is the real reason for the nursing shortage?!? Ok...enough already...let's move on to the weekend and enjoy life again =)

Hang in there. I'm a police officer and I have bad days like you and when they are stressful all I want to do eat. There are days I get tired of dealing with people. And they are not people you want to deal with. I have lots of injuries from being hurt on my job, so exercising is hard, but I have been pushing myself. Thank God I have a really good husband who supports me. I know this site has helped me alot. Have a good weekend and relax.

You sound just like my mom! She is nurse too and has always said how crazy it is. They say the same thing about the full moon. I read your bio there and saw you have a 50 lb loss by summer as your goal, and then read that you wanted to workout 6 times this week. I want to encourage you to maybe scale back your goals a little for now. Here's why- if you set too ambitious of goals and can't meet them then you will become disappointed in yourself and give up. It might be unreasonable to think you can fit in working out 6 days a week plus work plus be a mom. For starters, I would recommend scheduling 3 days and commit to an hour each day and do it when you aren't coming home exhausted from work. Here's another thought on the weight loss. If you want to lose 50 lbs by say June, that is 10 lbs per month, or 2.5 lbs per week. That is fairly reasonable, but still would be a lot. You might have better success if you set an easier short term goal. I have found it to be very helpful to set my long term goal, then break it down into a reasonable per month and then per week loss timeline for me to get there. Those are just some thoughts to help set you up for success and help you feel you are accomplishing your goals! Start out reasonable and get into a good routine then push yourself more once into another day once you have mastered 3 days a week. Let me know your thoughts if you want to on that!

Thank you sooo much for the advice! I think breaking down into smaller per week goals will help alot. I think as for the working out, I will try to at least get the weight training in 3 days a week, and alternate the cardio the other three. (We have a treadmill in the basement, and are ordering a virtual bike trainer...my bf is into traithlons and wants to get this and it HAS to be better than the rollers that are down there now...I can't keep my bike on there LOL.) Thanks again!!! =)
