Didn't make it to the gym on Monday or Tuesday but I did run Monday. Ran again on Thursday and hot yoga. Elliptical yesterday and ran first thing this morning. I committed to my first race, the big dog brag. I am only doing the 2k but it's something. Then later I'm doing a 5k.
I'm frustrated with a girl I've been working out with. We ran last Saturday and lifted weights. Well during the course of the week because we work together she made a comment about how when I really start to run at like 5.2 mph vs 4.4 blah blah blah. I know she's trying to be motiVational ans encouraging. Last Saturday she said I think you goal should be 10 minutes to run straight and of course I laughed. Though I am frustrated with her what I am more frustrated with is people who have never been fat or unhealthy or out of shape trying to "encourage" someone like me who is all of those things! A few years ago those comments would have seriously bothered me and I would have quit. In fact I did if you look at my history. But one of the things I have learned from yoga is acceptance.
I accept that not everyone has had to struggle with being overweight, out of shape or unhealthy. And that something one person is thinking is motivational can knock someone else down. You know what I may never run at 5.2. I may be a slow jogger and that's ok. I ran longer then I did last week and that's something. If anyone else out there is struggling with reverse motivation if just feeling low, shake it off!
