I've also being trying to reign in with the overeating and I am really watching my calories. I've also reached my first milestone and I can't wait until my next Omron reading to see how my numbers have changed :)

That sounds great Sara! It feels awesome to see the pieces fall in place like this. By the way, if you are interested, a book that I read (not completely- I didn't finish it before having to return it to the library) and found pretty helpful is "Mindless Eating:Why we eat more than we think" by Brian Wansink. A lot of it may just be reiterations or reminders of things you've heard before- it was somewhat like that for me- but the way it was written just made things "click" for me and have helped me have the increased awareness that's contributed to my success. Good luck and continued success to you! :)

Thanks! It feels good to see things working. I think one of the biggest keys to success is self awareness. When you know you have a choice- that you don't NEED to eat or not eat a certain thing at a certain time, or when you realize that opportunities don't have to be big or extraordinary- it's MUCH easier to do things that are better over all. Today I am happy that I realized I could get a mini workout just by being more deliberate in my activities. :)

We all have our own opinions as to why we over eat and unfortunately "opinions" are like the "fundamental orifice", we all have one !
The fact is we over eat and only we can change that.
I was as guilty as everyone else on FS I was no exception I could stuff food into my face just as well as the next person until the day the doctor told me a dreadful fact.
Since then I have and continue to lose weight.
The point I make here is that if we have a good enough reason to control our eating we can do it, all it takes is to make the decision and support that decision with will power.

Bwy, I agree in large part with what you are saying. In fact, I think we may be saying much the same thing differently. Self awareness is something that I think people vary widely in; sometimes an outside perspective is what is needed to reflect to us our present condition (not only in the realm of fitness/ nutrition) and this can be a catalyst for committing to change. However, you are right that no other human being can make that change for us.
