Birthday is Sunday and husband wants to go out for dinner and dessert....I'm honestly terrified. I don't want to go way off course, but I want to enjoy myself?! I hate this struggle and where I am in it right now.

Just go out, eat and have fun… and don’t have any regrets...😉

Go have fun but plan ahead. Look at menu and decide before you go what you’re going to order. Don’t get an appetizer, wine and dessert. Knock one of those three out ( your choice). Enjoy your birthday and your husband’s company. Happy birthday! 🎉

You can do this! Sub out a side for steamed or grilled veg, if it's served on a bun eat only half of the bun, split dessert with your hubby and let him have most. ;) And no appetizers, they're basically meal sized these days and they detract from the main event, haha. Drink LOTS of water before your meal does come. And if you cave and eat an app, your full meal, and a dessert - *that's ok,* just don't do it two days in a row. =)

We don't get fat/put on weight by eating one meal that's more indulgent, just as we don't lose weight by having a day of reduced calories and increased physical activity. Give yourself permission to enjoy it, return to more moderate daily eating the next day. From experience, I will tell you that depriving yourself on special occasions is not sustainable and can lead to a far bigger problem in the long-term. Let's say you eat 500 calories more for this birthday dinner and dessert. That's not even 1/7 of a pound of fat gain (though the scale may show an increase due to water, glycogen, that kind of stuff), and that's not subtracting the increased TEF. If you're really concerned about it, you can subtract a couple hundred calories on other days.

just stay in a caloric deficit and you're fine

the benefits of keto, omad, fasting, and all those other diets come down to simple calorie deficit. don't listen to the people telling you you can't eat a bun or whatever - soo unnecessary. just save your calories for the big meal and you'll still be on point.

You have a few choices..2 of those are to go, eat what you want and recoup in the next few days. The other is to go, choose a healthy version meal and skip dessert.( maybe a bite of hubby's?) It would be a shame to restrict yourself totally and not go but you know yourself better than I do. 💜💜

I agree with several comments here. I usually look at the menu ahead of time & try to decide on dishes more calorie friendly. The exception might be if this is a favorite restaurant and you have a favorite dish...I say go for it! If the portion is large you can eat half & either get the rest to go...or leave it. Have a glass of wine if you want....share a dessert with your husband. It's a celebration! The next day go back to your WOE. This is one day, and occasional treats in my opinion are not only acceptable but necessary.

Order enough food that’s on your diet that you couldn’t possibly eat a dessert! And look at a menu beforehand and set your mind to sticking with it. Your body will thank you!

Split your entree and put half in a to-go box.

It's your bday, enjoy yourself! One day isn't going to ruin all your progress. If it helps, look at the menu ahead of time and have an idea of what you want to eat! But don't be afraid to treat yourself every now and then🙂

I hope you’re enjoying your day!

it's a special occasion, quick way to lose real progress is to feel like you can't do anything special, treat yourself, if need be, fast before then go back to the diet with renewed vigor. 😉
