Tamme's Journal, 24 Jan 11

Good day mostly. I had an evening class so for lunch I had dinner and for dinner I had lunch. On the way home tonight, I had an epiphany.

LOL Sounds funny, but it seems to make more sense in general. We save our bigger meal for the end of the day when it's probably better to do it earlier. We need food to give us energy and we need the energy to get through the day... not for sleeping.

I'm sure this isn't news for most people and I am pretty sure I've always kept it in the back of mind. But I still hoard my calories (or Points when I did Weight Watchers) because I have the fear of, "What will I do if I get hungry later and used them all up?"

It's irrational and really counterproductive. Duh... If I don't eat enough during the day, I am definitely going to be hungry at night. So my plan now includes me using 2/3 of my RDI by 3pm. We will see how that works.

I feel the same way. I think that is why I don't want to start eating as soon as I get up . I don't want to use up my calories before the end of the day. It's this stinkin' thinkin' I need to rid my mind of. Thanks for the reminder.

This is very true. I find it so much easier to eat less for the rest of the day when I eat breakfast. In fact, I usually find that in the days when I skip breakfast, very rarely, I tend to eat more overall. I was never a breakfast person, but I have learned to enjoy it now. It's a good change. Definitely leave some calories for later in the evening, but it doesn't have to be too many.
