Exercising more, eating less and gaining weight!

I am very frustrated! I had a weigh in at my studio last night and I am up a pound AGAIN!!!!! I have been very dedicated to eating less and exercising more and I am gaining weight!

My trainer says I am a mesomorph body type and not to get hung up on the scale, but it is hard not to get discouraged when I am disciplined and it is not paying off.

I do need to bring in more vegetables -- complex carbs -- so maybe I will try that. But at this rate, I am putting on a pound a week.

I am really discouraged and ready to cry like a child.

Your trainer seems to have a good reason for it and if you're doing stregth training, you're going to be better off in the long run. Have you noticed anything else about your body that you can use to motivate yourself in the meantime? Increased muscle tone, maybe losing inches? Increased strength and stamina? The scale tracks losing weight, but being healthy is about so much more. You may have to convince me of the same thing this weekend- I snuck a weigh in yesterday morning and I'm concerned that I may have a gain, so I share your frustration.

bear with it, next week you might have a significant loss. I am having a hard time remaining focused the last two days. I was sooo good this past week and when i saw .4 back on the scale I freaked out. I have not worked out b/c hip has been bad and have to go get new running shoes. But I can't seem to go get them! Ugh! It will get better I promise! I love this thing b/c we get to vent and see that others struggle as much as we do! Your going to do FINE!! :)

Update: I took a day off from working out -- I was really, really sore. After taking the day off, the weight I put on, came off. So, my theory (not scientific at all!) is because I was so sore from working out that my body was adjusting and holding water. I am going to test this theory. My thoughts are this: The day after I workout, I actually gain a pound or two. Two to three days after I work out, and my body adjusts, I will drop that weight. I will let you know. Thank you for the wonderful words of encouragement!!!!!! BTW: Another woman at the gym (about my age, height, weight) was saying she was experiencing the same thing.
