jenalena's Journal, 08 Aug 14

Looking back at my journal brings this feeling of "been there, done that, doing it again". How do I get out of the diet/exercise for 3-6 weeks cycle? I am totally committed today, Day 3 of the GM cleanse diet and I'm holding strong. Then I'll start on a low calorie diet trying to lose 1 lb a week for the next year. Is it possible? Has anyone really stayed on a diet for a year? Is that what you would consider a lifestyle change? LOL I will never stop loving macaroni and cheese, lasagna, ice cream, fried potatoes, etc... I suppose it will always be a struggle to balance these things.

This last two months of not watching my foods and not exercising regularly has really taken a toll on my self image. I feel like my belly doubled in size. I will admit that we were making bad choices.. I took the family to fast food and pizza at least twice a week. I made sausage gravy and ettoufe for the hubby at least once. I'm just rambling... trying to regain focus on why my non-tracking self gets out of control so easily.

On another topic - my husband has been super supportive and is doing this cleanse diet with me. He hates fruit and vegetables! I never really considered that his distaste for all things natural could be part of our downfall. If I made gravy and cheese for dinner every night, he'd be the happiest man ever. How do you make a veggie lover out of that? Seriously, all he is willing to eat are nectarines, zucchini, carrots and apples. He took two bites of the acorn squash and pushed it away. He wasn't even willing to eat the tomatoes or snap peas. He did eat the baked potato, but that's hardly a vegetable! He loathes melons of all kinds and tolerates oranges. Again - I'm just whining about the things that make it harder to stay on track.
