laura78's Journal, 28 Apr 09

Well, yesterday was my first day on South Beach phase 1. During the day I felt fine. I was a bit nauseous and unable to drink my usual diet coke but I attribute that to some meds I'm currently on. However, the evening was so much harder. I ate as soon as I got home from work. I felt stuffed. A while later though, I felt hungry again. So I had some turkey breast meat with a bit of cheese and a pickle. Is it normal to feel this hungry? I started remembering why I have not been able to stick to a diet. I have no will power. However, this time I feel different. I can actually see myself thin. I can see myself using clothes that don't fit anymore and are just sitting in my closet. I really hope this works. Day 2 in process.

Enter everything you eat into your food diary. I would say it isnt normal. In fact me and a few others here I recall, we felt like it was too hard getting in two snacks and eating 3 meals. We felt we were always watching teh clock thinking, "oh no, is it really time to eat again?" BUT...we did feel nauseated, constipated and sick. Carb withdrawal can be an ugly thing but it passes in a few days. Use your food diary faithfully. Eat almonds and drink a full glass of water. That helped me. Make sure you're getting plenty of veggies, there is no limit to the good veggies so you shouldnt feel hungry. Let us know how you're doing and I'll take a look at your food diary.

from what i saw...you need to stay away from the processed meats until phase 2 and you need more veggies...

Your fat and protien are very high. SO far you are getting at least double the protien you really need and youre getting it from a fatty source. Try egg whites for breakfast scrambled with lots of veggies. Try a big salad for lunch, I see you love your veggies...but try tuna instead of steak. Try lentils or black beans in your salad instead of meat and cheese. Also I'm not sure about your fat free cheese, but be sure to read your labels. More often than not, they add sugar into FF products. Most SB approved foods are light or lox fat, not ff. Did you read the book? If not I'd suggest getting it and there are also some great websites. I'll email you one of the ones I used most.
