No worries, Mike. I believe that you have been doing very well so far. Allow me to tell you my story. I sometimes to talk to myself like this. "Time will help me once I go the right direction/path with a positive mind, self-trust and patience. It is necessary to have a commitment and discipline but it doesn't mean that I have to be harsh on me. Be kind to myself and my body. No one is perfect. If I am derailed during the journey, don't stay out there too long. Come back to my way ASAP and forgive myself. Then restart or resume my journey. I am in charge of my life no matter what happens, so I will make it to happen to myself." This kind of mind-control and communication with myself is very helpful to maintain my journey well and until now, I have lost 78 lbs. "Rome didn't get built in a day." I wish you all the best. 😄

Thanks Anne. I’m very self critical and I can be high strung. I’ll use this advise and I appreciate you.

I track my food on the weekends too, but it’s harder on the weekends to resist snacking. It’s way easier when distracted w work! I can relate. But, I also log WHEN I eat. I allow a 3-4 hour window of not eating in between meals because it allows my insulin levels to come back down. That has helped me maintain my weight loss. Have a good work week. :)

Great post, Mike! I think you speak for many of us here. It’s great that you have this mindset now going into your 40’s. I wish I had been able to keep focused like that 20 years ago when I lost a decent chunk of weight. The other thing I would add to your list is being tired of having to stand behind other people in photographs. I’m still working on that one but it’s getting better, slowly but surely. Hope you have a great week!

I'm tired of all the above and I'm tired of thinking about food all the time! It's like the more calories I watch the hungrier I get and hence thinking about when I get to eat next....😥

I also think about food a lot. Like way more than I should and I find myself thinking about the next meal as I am finishing a meal.
This can be used in your favor though, because it is easier to make a wise decision when you are full. For example, after I eat a good dinner I might say, “tomorrow I’d like to do a salad”. That way I don’t come home from work and ask for tacos!
