**NEED TO VENT**
So, I sent some paperwork into my Dr. two weeks ago for my new job. Just the standard forms stating I am not predicted to croak and that I have all my shots, etc. I finally get all the paperwork back today and I'm perusing it to make sure all the sections were filled out before I send it to Human Resources. Under the section with my height and weight it asks for a number and then has boxes for the Dr. to check that say: Normal, Abnormal, and Not examined. Under my weight which at the time of the physical last summer was 174 lbs. my Dr. checked "Abnormal". Next to this in the comments section she wrote "Lose weight." I am so upset I can't even describe it right now. I don't like my Dr. which doesn't help matters, I switched from the pediatrician to her last summer, my parents use this practice and I was very unhappy with them. I had a false positive on a test (I SWEAR the nurse read it wrong), a really horrid experience with the nurses, hysterical tears after the false positive test results and the nurse made me feel like I had the plague and paperwork nightmares. I have only seen the Dr. once. This combined with my papers does not make my impression of the practice any better but still. During my physical I remember discussing weight. I was 21 at the time, I have progressively lost weight from middle school on and when asked articulated to my Dr. that I try to exercise daily and watch what I eat. The only thing that she said at the time was make sure you continue this because weight is really hard to get off once you get older. That was it! I am 5'8" tall. My Dr. is 5'3". She never said to me during the visit that I needed to lose weight and even with that weight and my height the BMI scale is only one number above Normal or Healthy or whatever that thing says. Needless to say as soon as my HR paperwork and my benefits package comes through for my new job I'm changing Drs. ANDDDD if nothing else it has fueled the fire beneath me that I need to continue to work on this and even harder to prove I can but right now I'm just hurt and feel like blah. Had she actually read my medical records that I'd had sent from my pediatrician she'd have known how hard and for how long I've been working on this and truly how much weight I've lost since high school... :-( Okay, venting over, thanks for listening.
