Hornet Mech's Journal, 04 Jun 15

I never thought of myself as the type of person that would count calories. Here I am doing it. I even use my digital scale to figure out portions for the data. Funny to me, yesterday I counted out candy pieces instead of just eating the entire bag. People that know my sweet tooth will probably think I've gone crazy. I'm known to drink over 2 liters of coke and 3 energy drinks in a day, Yesterday I only had 2 coke zeros. I read labels before I eat, something I only did for my pets food. Finding this website has changed me and motivated me to be more conscious of my intake, exactly what I needed. Healthier foods are on the grocery list. Thanks to all of my supporters. Good luck to everyone on their journey.

Most of use wouldn't do anything else in life without knowing what is necessary and proper to complete the task or project. Why should this be any different?

Feels strange at first, doesn't it? Finding this site has changed my perspective completely on food and diets in general. The support isn't too shabby either! Good for you! That's the way to do it.

I'm the only person in my family that actually measures their food lol. For years I've measured either by counting, weighing or using measuring cups/spoons. I recently bought a food scale because how can you really tell how many oz a piece of chicken is by looking at it? Ya know? Or lunch meat....how many pieces are 3oz? Depends on size of cut. 1/2 c of something may still be over what the serving size is so sometimes I actually go by grams or oz in servings rather than 1/2, 1/4, ect. Some people, like me, like to push it right to the edge of the measuring cup but over time, that ads up. 7 years ago, I cut out soda and juices. Even diet sodas because diet drinks contain chemicals our bodies can't process and in return, it gets stored as fat. I think that's one of the main reasons I haven't gained more than 10lbs (aside of being pregnant). Over the past 5 years, we've gone about 80% organic in this house and have cut most processed foods. I've been learning to make things from scratch like bread, granola bars, coffee creamer and yogurt. I used to eat Healthy Choice or Weight Watcher meals....2-3 a week, but have learned that they're no good due to added chemicals as well. So now we just eat real food in this house. No fat free or light either. Just real. Good. Food! :-)

I love that you read labels for something you eat instead of just for the pets. :)
