GravyBoat's Journal, 16 Aug 11

I've been reading lately about protein. It's an interesting read. Medical journals say that 3 oz of meat (and just about any kind of meat) is enough for most people per day. That translates roughly to only 12 g of protein.

If you read healthy living sites, they say much, much more is necessary. I weigh over 200, so, according to these health sites, I should be eating 70 gs of protein.

That's a lot of protein.

But, here's what I've found by doing some experiments on myself...

If I get up and eat 10g of protein or more within the first 30 minutes upon waking, (a hard boiled egg for example), I get a heavy feeling in my stomach that lasts a long time. If I hit a nutrition shake on the way in to work, for around 300 calories, I've consumed 25+ g of protein and I'm really full.

I'm also losing weight at better than 3 lbs a week averaging about 1400 calories a day. I've never been able to lose weight at anything above 800 calories.

So, as I am suspecting. All the diet info we've been fed over the years is pretty much wrong.

More on this later!
