esimnons's Journal, 22 Aug 11

I got a call yesterday as I was driving to Charlotte NC and was told that My Mother in Law had passed away. While I am sad, I know this is the best thing for her.

I expect I will try to drive home tomorrow evening and then we will drive to Texas for the Memorial Service on Thursday and the burial on Friday. I don't get why they are having one on Thursday but she was their mother not mine.... They are having her cremated as she wanted.

As you may expect, my body is already hurting and I expect will be worse soon. Plus, I have nothing to wear. Guess I will try to go to the mall this evening. I have many suits from my former work environment but nothing really seems to be the right thing. Plus, it is so hot there that I don't see me wanting to wear a jacket... Oh well... I will try to figure this out - don't think they would want me to go naked :)

Sorry to hear of your loss in the family...

Sorry to hear about the mother-in-law. I know you weren't close and you are probably uncertain of how you should feel about all of this, but he is your Dear Darling's mother and this will probably affect him and ultimately will need your support during this time. Not sure how formal they tend to be, but Texas, in the summer? I don't see why you wouldn't be able to find a decent summer dress that would do. And that way you can use it afterwards when the opportunity arose. Sending you love.

Thank you. There is a mall and a target next to the hotel where I am staying. I will go try to find something suitable. I just hate shopping! I used to love it and used it as a crutch. Now,I hate it! I know I don't have the money to spend and don't like how I look in anything... Yuck. Plus, the DDs ex is likely to be there as well as many of his family members that I have neve met. I want to look good but ... We will see :)

I think you can do fine with Targets selection. I was just in there over the weekend and they had some cute dresses that would do just fine.

Yes, esiminons - I understand about shopping. I used to enjoy buying things - but now I have everything I need but a few things to buy in the next year - I even hate grocery shopping as I basically can only buy what is on sale. I end up usually at all 3 stores in town and I have a memory of a computer I swear - because I know the prices of everything I buy and if its a bargain or a rip-off, also I shop at a pharmacy or two and once in a while a bargain can be had there, I was mad when something regular price was a few cents cheaper at the pharmacy than Wal-Mart, which is supposed to be the cheapest. I do go to Target but without a ride it is some distance away, but I get my Levi jeans there... Hope you have a good trip despite the circumstances...

Hey Elizabeth - I am so sorry to hear of her death, although I do realize you all saw this coming. You'll find just the right thing, I am sure...as I am guessing, but don't think you will actually go there naked! Don't even sweat the small stuff regarding the Ex, family, etc... totally unimportant... just focus on supporting your husband, and loving those around you and comforting them during this loss. You'll be back to life as normal before you know it. Thinking of you...and lifting you all in prayer during this time. Travel safely... and try to keep in touch during your stay. Much Love.

Sorry for your families loss. However you are a wonderful support to all of us here and im sure that, that is only a fraction of the support that you give to your husband. The saying is true, behind every great man is a stronger woman. As far as the Ex goes, just laugh, remember she is an Ex for a reason. Sending love and prayers.

Thank you all for your help. i ended u wearing a black skirt and a sweater. i looked fine but the day was really bad. I allowed myself to feel inferior and left out. Stupid of me and I knew it at the time but I still allowed the feelings. i wont go into details but it was really the worst experience I think i have ever had.
