That hike with the girls sounds amazing! Any wildlife to watch out for? besides guy hikers. We have bears within minutes of Vancouver city limits (and often they encroach upon new development) so it makes hiking challenging but not impossible. We just have to remember to carry bear spray and wear a whistle! 

I live in the dessert So, it seem amazing that there is something to hike but there is a vast piece of land that is soo beutiful it looks like a mini grand canyon and you can walk right through the middle the place is called sara's crack. As for wild life there are snakes and ugly spider and an occasional cyote. nothing really frightning
