On April 30, 2024. I was at work wondering which fast food establishment I should buy lunch from after I pick up my nicotine at the gas station. Then a thought popped into my head, how much money am I spending a month to kill myself slowly? I started to get a little pudgy after leaving the military and tobacco definitely had a hold of me. Money is always a consideration as well, so why waste it to hurt yourself.
So right then and there I decided. No more nicotine, and I’m getting back to my “fighting weight” of 165. Not a huge undertaking being that I was 178 that day, but nonetheless, time to loose the gut.
Well, boy did I underestimate my addiction to nicotine. Going cold turkey was tough, but I haven’t touched nicotine/tobacco since that day. I did however replace it with food. I went from 178 to 187.2 within a month. So my initial goal of losing 13lbs turned into 22.2. Once I peaked in weight (May 30th) my desire for nicotine was essentially broken so it was time to focus on the weight side of it. Since May 30th I have been consistently loosing weight daily and am almost back to my starting weight. Expect to be there within the next two days. No stopping till I hit the goal.
That’s my boring story, thanks for reading it. I know everyone has different circumstances, goals, hurdles, etc. but good luck to everyone on achieving their goals.
