Berry Well 42's Journal, 16 Jul 24

So, I've been reading around the community and it's just awesome being here. I'm learning a lot from everyone. I love there are people who want to gain weight, lose weight and are maintaining. The best thing for me is the food diary. Being able to see my salt is amazing and pushes me to avoid the snacks for more healthier options or make my choice of eat it then stop eating and drink water.Portion control is key but if you can chose not to do it, then we shouldn't. I hope to one day stop picking my poison as they say and just be fully healthy. I know there are things I just enjoy so I have an everything in moderation philosophy. But there are somethings I will just say no to due to food allergies of my son and hubby.

So glad you are here 😊 Keeping a food diary was an incredible eye-opener for me. I have a lifetime of portion distortion, not really recognizing I didn't need to eat that much. It really taught me how much "enough" was. Good luck on your journey! We're here for ya!

thank you @writingwyo. Learning that I don't have to always eat has been very freeing for me lately. I'm down to some days only eating one meal. When I do, I'm trying to make it as nutrient dense as I can afford and that is available.

I find food quality makes a huge difference, Berry Well. My general feeling is I can pay my grocer or pay my doctor later. I've been eating healthy long enough that I really don't crave processed and fast foods anymore. I can walk right by the candy and chip aisles without a thought, but I can't be trusted in the produce section 😂 When you change your diet, your taste buds follow. All that said, if you're getting down to only one meal some days, do be sure you're getting enough calories to sustain what you're doing. Too many people think that if their calorie goal is 2000 that it's some Red Badge of Courage to get it below 1200. Sometimes in doing so, they only set themselves up for a binge when they can't handle the constant hunger. Be in this for your health, and play the long game 👍

SO true @writingwyo. I'm just not hungry on the days this happens so I don't eat until I feel it and I have a standard meal then and get satisfied. My dinner one time was an apple and some grapes with a cup of green tea and I was good. I don't see it as a badge of honor to be hungry unless I'm chosing to fast and even then what's with the badge hahahahahaha. What is this boy and girlscouts.Okay sorry for the sarcasm it was just so funny when ever I hear badge of honor. People are usually doing things to show off or make themselves feel like they better than others. My life experience so I hope I didn't offend you. I'm totally all about having my best health but I know I'm going to eat and make some things I probably shouldn't but will eat in portions. I search for recipes to give me a healthier variety. Store bought is worst than home baked so thats one win for me so far until I get disciplined enough to just stop. In it for my best healthy life.

So glad to hear it 😊 And no, not offended at all. I'm prone to a bit of sarcasm here and there myself 😉🤣
