It's most likely the floor is a little uneven. Scales should be on a hard level surface, but sometimes it's hard to tell with uneven flooring. Put an object (like two hand weights) on the scale in a certain spot to gauge it's accuracy. It could also be the battery going low. It's always good to leave it in one spot.

Is it digital? Mine was being whacky so I called the company. They told me to calibrate it by stepping on and off fives times kind of fast or tap on the right corner five times with my foot. Seems to have worked.

My building is really old. Maybe it is the leveling. I'll just wait and weigh in on the scale at the gym.
Thank you!

Yeah I'm sure I've lost. I'm down another inch in my waist. I'm not too worried but I'd like to know how much I weigh.
And I think the calibration is fine. My apartment is just old and not level :P
