ARB, I've just seen your stats. That's an amazing total loss. Congratulations. You obviously have real staying power. I always enjoy reading your insightful comments on other people's posts. Thanks for the inspiration.

Fantastic ARB, well done you. I'm going to pig out too although on a not too healthy goose! I have also been given 6 bottles of my favourite Malbec by a contractor so feel my crimble stats won't be as good as yours!

What's not healthy about goose, ST? A good, white meat with plenty of flavour and enough fat to help you feel fuller and satisfied sooner. What's not to like? I'm so pleased I don't work where I get Xmas gifts from suppliers / customers. I've already drunk the bottle of wine my OH was given by a regular (he doesn't drink wine)

Thanks all, I've never tried goose before but I have to say that it sounds wonderful.

It is, ARB! But there's not much meat on a bird - it's a big boned species. It was the traditional bird in the UK until we adopted the American tradition of Turkey at Thanksgiving and moved it a month. I always find it better to cook the day before and reserve the fat for the roast potatoes. It can be carved easily cold and with a hot plate and plenty of gravy you don't notice that it's cold.

The one thing I look forward to is the Brussels sprouts - lol! Best part of Christmas dinner for me 😊

Phooka, that's interesting. Cooking it the day before saves a lot of stress and oven space on the day. I might remember that for the future.

It's only my Pa and me so a goose will go a long way. LOVE Brussels and everything else about a roast. I fully intend to oink my way through my entire larder. Drinking may be on the wain though, but more of that next week. Can't wait until crimble, my inner piglet is pawing to be let out.
