MOMofTeens's Journal, 26 Jan 10

My loss of 2.0 lbs is great, but I really expected more for how hard I worked this week. I didn't go over 1,000 calories any day except 1. I know 2.0 lbs a week is the healthy way to do it, but in the past I remember losing a lot more my first week. However, I wasn't discouraged, didn't cheat and actually went to the gym. I AM already feeling a difference. I won't quit.

You know what I have found to be a good rule of thumb is to not let your calorie count get to low, although you would think that the fewer calories you eat the more weight you will loose but this theory is not exactly true. With out a sufficient amount of calories each day your body will start storing more of the food you eat as fat because it will go into "starvation" mode and feel the need to conserve what you are feeding it. I am sure this is not the medical way of describing what is actually happening. The gym is a great place to loose that weight, feed your body the calories you need and burn it off at the gym, this in the long run will help you keep the pounds off, you will increase your metabolism and in general you will feel better and less deprived (which leads to less binging and "falling off the wagon") Have a great day!
