Want2BFit's Journal, 31 Jan 10

They say it takes 3 weeks to develop something into a habit. I've been very tempted in the past couple of weeks as I've been more social than I'm used to, and every time I avoid temptation I am so excited; but more than that it just becomes easier. I didn't realize how much bad food is eaten post bar hopping; I thought that wasn't something that stopped with college, but it's not the case. I've been over the moon all the week after being able to resist pizza while 3 of my friends had me in a pizzeria, I hadn't eaten dinner, and I was able to be content with my granola bar. I then realized that when I eat something 'bad' it usually isn't as good as it seems like its going to be or it smells, and the guilt I carry with me forever. Whereas, it's such a much better feeling to turn off the cravings or learn to be satisfied by something else. I haven't not had Chinese food (my weakness) at least once a week since I started this whole diet plan. Even when I was having amazing results with Slim in 6, RevAbs, and now Insanity I was able to still sneak in foods that were off plan and still get results. This week when my brain said well you've made it the whole week you can have it, I debated and then decided on something more on plan, but that would give me the same kind of feeling. It was great to still be able to find an enjoyable alternative and still stay on track.

My best friends bday was last night so I had to go out, so I brought my carb blockers with me in case of an emergency and I didn't even need them! I had two drinks (vodka w. seltzer) and I spent so much time talking and socializing that I didn't even drink them. Then I stayed the night at my guy friends house so instead of having my Kashi bar (which is only 30gs of carbs and I allow myself to have those) I opted for sunflower seed kernals and a liter of water b/c I really wasn't that hungry. I think a lot of times we eat out of social need to belong to the group than actual hunger. A lot of times we tend to eat as to not offend people we're around or to not stand out, which may work for some, but if we're looking to change our habits we need to get over that.

Tomorrow is the first of a new month, I can't believe January is already pretty much in the past. I am so excited that I've been eating clean for the past ten days or so so I look forward to sticking with it even more for the duration of the month. I'm starting the second phase of Insanity in a few weeks which is longer and harder, but I'm mentally preparing b/c quitting isn't an option. I'm also adding in another lifting program to hopefully strengthen my back and shoulders (which are looking very cute by the way, must be all the pushups).
