Dad made dinner tonight. He's an excellent cook, as was my mom. Mom always said if it didn't taste quite right, add a little more butter, and if that didn't fix it, add a little cream. Her three spices of choice: Butter, Whipping cream, and Sugar. My dad cooks a little differently. If it doesn't taste quite right, add a little more oil, and if that doesn't work, add some butter. His three spices of choice: Oil, Butter, and Salt! I didn't even look at the calories until I was done eating - Wow! 270 calories for 2/3 cup fettuccini with butter and cream. Shrimp fried in butter and oil. Yikes! I'm grateful I can't cook. I'm never tempted to add a little something to Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones - except maybe a touch of something on the veggies!
