I'm having a hard time giving up animal protein cold turkey, pardon the pun. Today, I'm going to try weaning myself of it by eating less every day until I have used up what I have in the house. Today and tomorrow, I will eat the two cups of tuna salad from the deli. Then I will eat the last piece of smoked salmon. Then the last few eggs. Beginning Sunday, I hope to be done with it. Thereafter, if I get a strong craving, I will eat eggs, cheese or yogurt rather than meat, fowl or fish.

Are you sure that is the right diet for you? I am asking because I know a lot of people who go vegan for reasons other than purely biological and do not do very well. I tried it myself in my more idealistic days, and found out that with my food allergies, low tolerance to carbs and fiber, lactose intolerance, etc, it was not a viable option. On the other hand, if you make an effort to eat well on vegan diet, and not just cut out animal protein, you might end up with positive results. Just don't do it because it is "right". Only do it if it "right" for your body.

meat is good, lots of amino acids you have a hard time getting from just veggies. BUT, I'm a beef tenderloin and fish girl. :-)
