Mommyray's Journal, 09 Jan 08

day three of south beach and its going very well. The only problem is I keep getting head aches. I started Monday and around supper time I got a head ache. Today and yesterday the same. I'm guessing its from lack of sugar, but you would think the caffeine in my coffee would make up for that. I know I'm not supposed to have caffeine but that is a big problem because then I go through withdrawl and get dizzy, migraine head aches and sometimes the pain is so bad in my head I get "sick". So if anyone knows from experience if lack of sugar is the cause of my onset head aches please let me know.

P.S. I cheated and got on the scale today. I told myself I would wait a week, and I lost 2 pounds!!! Yeah me

Sugar is a very addictive substance and when you stop eating it, there are a lot of withdrawal symptoms you can experience, including irritability, headaches, diarrhea, joint pains, lack of energy and even flulike symptoms(shakiness, edginess, nauseous) (info from the book Potatoes Not Prozac by Kathleen DesMaisons) :) Yuckie but it only lasts a few days! I was so irratable the first time I went off sugar and a migrane worse than I have ever had!

Thanks Lotus. Just wanted to know if the symptoms were normal so I wouldn't have to contact my doctor.
