Questions to those following an intermittent fasting plan...

Would a 12:12 scheme have any value from an IF perspective?

Would having coffee or tea with MCT oil or butter during the fasting window be considered breaking the fast?

Thank you for any information shared is greatly appreciated. I am considering adding IF as I component of my plan at sometime in the future. 16:8 doesn't really mesh with the chaos of my work world but a 12:12 would give an at least 30min window at the beginning and end of a day where chaos is the rule and I can actually eat enough and not be too far below my calorie ceiling too often (I may be already on the edge of not eating enough averaging a little under 1000 cals a day, especailly mon-fri so far.

I've only done a little IF. From what I can tell, the basic idea of IF is to get you to where LCHF gets you only quicker, that is, to low insulin and to nutritional ketosis. I'm also interested in IF for the possibility of increased HGH. Still, I think the main point is insulin management and ketosis. A 12 hour fast would certainly help in that regard.

The idea is to shorten the eating window - 16:8 is what I usually do. a 12 hour eating window is the norm for most people - not IF. Unless I misunderstood your post.

if you are doing 16:8 and are below 1000 calories, eating avocado will definitely increase the calorie count and add good fats into your diet. bullet-proof would break your fast.

Perhaps try up days - down days instead, where down days are about 25% lower than the up days. Has a similar effect but you don't worry about timing.
