Try Intermittent Fasting - refer to Jason Fung. He has proven that he can reverse diabetes using this method. Since I have started IF I am on way less insulin and I am trying to reverse mine using this method.

unfortunately our bodies don't always respond to outside influences. Keep working, once on doesn't mean always on.

Does your doctor work with a dietician - or can he or she recommend one? I'm a firm believer in using food as medicine... :)

BTW, I meant to say "Good luck," but pressed the "Submit" button too quickly... so.... Good luck! :)

My pancreas is a slacker too...so I am working very hard to get my numbers stable to be on the minimum amount necessary. I will echo that working with a dietician has been super helpful for me to keep this in perspective.

Get a second opinion. I was told the same thing in December. Another MD gave me a very specific diet. I followed it to a T and dropped my A1C from 6.9 to 5.8, meds are off the table. The diet is hard, and I miss my nightly martini, but it's worth it!

hell yes to intermittent fasting and dr Jason fung on you tube. that guy saved my life, coupled with Ketogenic diet and walking my A1C has gone from 8.1 to 5.6...in two months! say hell no to insulin, it makes you gain weight. I have dropped 4 meds, insulin and glipizde, and two opioid pain pills for by diabetic neuropathy. which has gone into remission. I eat 30-40g of carbs a day including butter, bacon, cream, pork chops, steaks, fried chicken and tons of low carb veggies and greens. I fast 20 hrs a day and am not hungry and feel like I have unlimited energy. l just walked 4.75 miles in 90 minutes like it was nothing. please do your OWN research before going on insulin. Maybe find a doc and/or diabetes educator that knows the ADA advice is utter crap? There are diabetes educators in the FB group Diabetes Warrior that truly 'get' it and get stellar results with their patients by having them follow low carb/keto way of eating. On the FB group Common Sense Keto, one of the educators said their entire dept was switching to teaching a keto way of eating because of the great results! Good luck to yoU!

I worked SO hard to get my A1C down and it wouldn't budge until I stayed on Common Sense Keto (since last Oct). Was thrilled to get down to and A1C fo 5.2, will prolly go a bit lower. In fact, my glucose has gone a little too low, according to the doc, so will adjust slightly. Healing blessings!

Following up on Chef martin, you might want to find the interview that Dr. Mercola did with Dr. Fung --- Mercola castigates the doc who puts T2's on insulin without trying diet intervention, meaning LCHF (20grams or less of carbs I think) and intermittent fasting. Good luck.
