Play producing season is kicking off hard. that means I'm seeing 2-3 shows a week. That's fine, except that I'm also tempted by beer, cupcakes and other things that are bad for me at each of them. Expect to see a lot more diet coke appearing in my diet, as few of these places sell bottles of water, and I really need to be seen buying something from the bar.

steady weight

I have been extremely ill the past few days. I could barely keep sips of water down, and slept for almost 30 hours at a stretch. The bad news is that I've fallen behind on all my challenges. The good news is that not ingesting any calories for 2 days and tossing and turning with a fever seems to be a good weight loss strategy... Yes, I'm being sarcastic here, I would rather GAIN weight than go through that again. Still silver linings mean I'll appreciate that I'm still on track to my weight loss goals, despite not liking the road that got me here.
I do plan on catching up with the videos and the exercise over the next few days. Hitting a small speed bump like this is no excuse for going off-road entirely. It's not a race, it's a journey, and it doesn't matter if I'm a little behind where I planned to be, the destination is still down the same path as before.

Losing 2.1 kg a Week
21 April 2014
It's not a fast, honest.
So I'm a little weird in my sleeping habits (and a lot weird in other ways, but that's a topic for another day). I tend to measure my days from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep, then a night is from when I fall asleep until I wake up. The problem is that this period is usually 26-28 hours long, which means every 9-10 days I "skip" a day. For instance, yesterday for me started around 5pm, and I went to bed around noon. Today is starting at 8:30pm, and will probably run until 3-4pm tomorrow.
So how do I record how much food I ate in a day, when my days are split between two 24 hour periods? I think I'm just going to skip a day in my records every time I start having my day be overwhelmingly part of "tomorrow".
Gah. English just isn't built for time travel.

Losing 3.2 kg a Week

I went SO FAR off any kind of sensible diet yesterday. I ate tons, probably over a pound, of toffee. Handmade English Bacon Butter Toffee. The crazy thing is that I was thinking to myself at the time it wasn't worth it, but I couldn't stop.
*sigh* I'll try to do better.

Gaining 3.2 kg a Week
19 April 2014
Went very off-plan yesterday, but emergencies happen. At least I stayed within my calorie limit.
I went out to play board games with my best friend, then we were going to a play. Had a diet coke at the pub, and a breakfast shake in my purse for in between. I would have been getting home from the play around the time of my normal dinner.
My friend fell down the stairs on our way out of the pub (she had tea, her feet just slipped), and then lost consciousness. So instead of a 2 hour play followed by dinner, it was a 6 hour ER visit. She's fine, it was a blood pressure drop due to all the blood rushing to her bruised posterior, but we couldn't be sure she hadn't hit her head, and you don't take chances with stuff like that, you get checked. I do NOT regret a second of the time I spent there with her.
But the only food I had access to at the time was a vending machine of chips and chocolate bars, and no real water supply. So dinner was a snickers bar, and I chugged 2 of my daily 3 liters of water when I got home. Not the best way of hydrating, but better than nothing. And I was also too tired to do my planned exercise once I got home.
So there's two ways of looking at this. I can beat myself up for not planning better for emergencies, and start walking around with a day's worth of healthy food so I don't resort to a snickers bar. Or I can notice I still lost a pound, still stayed in my calorie limit, and congratulate myself on prioritizing my friend above my weight loss without a second thought.
This is going to be a long road to a healthier me. I can't obsess and let the journey grow out of proportion. Instead, I'm going to know that even when I can't stay exactly on plan, if the bulk of my time is spent getting a little more active, and feeding myself well, then the occasional curve won't completely sabotage me.
