I had it in my schedule to do a run this morning, but my knees were still a little stiff from Monday's run. I've been thinking that I need to break up my runs with a couple of more days in between them to give my legs a wee bit of rest. I'm new at this and I don't want to damage myself. So, instead I did 55 minutes on the elliptical cross trainer and I was really surprised at how much that kicked my butt! I burned about 100 more calories in the 55 mins than when I do my running. Of course, the elliptical has resistance, so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. I liked it a lot and I think I might make it my regular Wednesday morning workout.
I'm on day 4 of my "break the plateau" mission and I started craving buttered toast this morning. Really? I haven't had buttered toast in over 2.5 years. I've got celiac disease and I'm allergic to dairy. I think my body is saying that it wants fat and carbs. Well, body, let me tell you something -- get over it! We're on a mission and you'll just have to suck it up and get with the program.
I'm also back on my no unnatural sugars kick - I consider unnatural sugars to be artificial sweeteners, processed cane sugar, and HFCS. I gave them up back in May and it was only during Thanksgiving where I fell off the wagon - I even ate a bag of gummy bears. I had fallen far! And I'm trying to figure out how to make my Christmas cookies - yes, I am going to make gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free, unnatural sugar-free cookies. I'm an ex-pastry chef these will be to my standards or I'll just have to make regular cookies that I can't eat. I think that I'm going to use coconut sugar as my sugar replacement. In sugar cookies...yes, this does sound insane even to me.

After 3 days of uncontrollable eating, I got it back into gear yesterday. I decided to shake things up a bit and go to Weight Watchers to get these last 20 pounds off. I'm still going to track my weight and journal here, but I really need the public accountability of a WW meeting and weigh-ins. So, I'll be tracking my food and points on the WW site.
My WW tracking day is now Saturday. I will plan to go to WW Saturday mornings and then to a soccer practice right afterwards. So, I'll be going to my meetings in my soccer workout clothes.
Had a great run this morning! I did my 4 miles in 46:55!!! Woot, Woot! That's my best time yet. On the way to 45 mins. I wound up doing almost 4.5 miles in 55 mins. (with the 5 minute cool down). I normally swim on Mondays, but I really felt that I needed a run today.
I've joined a weight loss challenge with a co-worker today. Her goal is to lose 5 pounds by Christmas. I had a personal goal of 5 by New Years Eve. This just makes it more challenging. Losing 5 pounds a week early. Hopefully, I can do this. I really need this kinda motivation to lose the pounds. Seriously, I can do anything for 4 weeks.

Much better day yesterday. I even exercised 3 times instead of the two I had planned. At lunch, my friend Kate asked me to walk around campus. It's good having friends who take care of you.
Hot Yoga was great last night. The instructor told me that I'm getting so much better in my practice. That's such a good feeling. :-)
OK, so now for the daily accountability checklist:
1) reduce sodium to RDI levels -- better, but still over. Didn't add salt to anything.
2) track everything - even on weekends -- YES!
3) 1/2 of all meals must be veggies -- YES!
4) drink 1 gallon of water every day - YES! Drank abt. 140 oz.
5) journal every day for accountability (use this list as a checklist) -- YES!
Total score: 4/5!!! That's passing.
