A funny thing happened at Starbucks earlier this week. I had been out all day and stopped at the mall to get lunch. I behaved myself and bought a small salad that I added a hard boiled egg, sunflower and pumpkin seeds to. I had brought the added items from home. I also had bought a small amount of chicken to add to the salad. No dressing because oops, forgot and no I didn't want what they offered. It was good but I was still hungry. I knew I should wait a bit but I desperately needed coffee so Starbucks it was.
I had also brought a small bag of almonds and a container of plain greek yogurt from home. BUT MAN those scones looked soooooo good. Along with the plain coffee I did buy a blueberry one, closing my eyes to the calories and sat down to eat. I broke off a corner of the scone and yes it was good.....just not as good as it was a month ago. Hmmmmm. I opened the yogurt and added a drop of honey I had asked the barista for and proceeded to drink my coffee, eat my yogurt and some of the almonds. I found myself only eating the yogurt and almonds. I was a little shocked by the time I had almost finished the yogurt and realized that I hadn't touched the scone again. In the past I would literally eat all of it including the crumbs. Did I take it home? Yes. After I got home it went into the trash which is what I should have done at the mall.
I know I haven't been able to eat sweets lately but this one really surprised me. Scones are sweet but not as much as other items. I'm in the habit of eating yogurt, fruit and nuts so I guess it kicked in. Does anyone else have this happen to them?
