27 December 2012

Well, Christmas went well - too well! I'm going to class this evening and fully expect to have gained weight, but that's fine. A few years ago, I did WW and had a pointed Xmas. It worked, and I lost 2.5 lbs. BUT because I felt I hadn't had a good Xmas, the following week I put on 5lbs! I learned my lesson then ; better to have a good time and get right back on the wagon at next class.

In the last three weeks I lost 1/2lb, then 1/2lb, then missed a class cos my trains were so late I didn't make it in time.

I do feel heavier, and my back is giving me jip cos I haven't been doing my usual walking to and from work. I'm literally seizing up! So, I'm actually looking forward to getting back to work on 5th January, and to walking regularly again. I'm a walking convert :) I hated it before, but after 5 months, I'm loving it - and so is my bad back. It really does set me up for the day, clear my head, and keep me supple. So, as I say, class this evening, and the new books/packs that are due to be issued. I'll let you know how I do ;)

Just back from my weigh-in class and I stayed the same, which I am hugely relieved about.

Thinking about it, I put on about 4 pounds when I lost the plot over last weekend, so by staying the same after that at weigh-in, I've actually 'lost' 4 pounds this week, LOL! Just goes to show, if you have a bad 2 days/weekend, but get back on track for the other 5 days it isn't always a complete write off. In the past I would have thought, "Oh, well - blown it now, I might as well carry on and start again next week."

I've eaten well this week, and haven't been hungry. The cold weather means quinoa porridge with rice milk for breakfast, tasty soup n pasta salad for lunch (a fav is carrot and red lentil soup - with added roasted butternut squash and chile - lush!), Chicken or Pork for supper with frylight chips and mixed veg, and a HI-FI bar with a choc options.

Also, a nice surprise is that the M & S orzo salad with roasted tomatoes and basil vinaigrette I enjoyed so much is only 1 sin per 200grm pot. Yummy!

Thick carrot and coriander soup (basic recipe)

Roughly chop 9 medium carrots and 1 large onion and place them in a large saucepan with 1 tsp of ground coriander, 85g/3oz of split red lentils, and 2 to 3 pints of water. Bring to the boil and simmer until carrots are tender, adding more water if necessary. Add veg bouillon or chicken oxo to taste and cook for a further 5 mins. Whizz in a food processor or with a hand blender and serve with a swirl of fat free natural yogurt and fresh coriander leaves if you fancy.

I often make this and then add roasted butternut squash or a roasted sweep potato, and 1/2 teaspoon chile flakes to the basic recipe before I whizz/blend :) Both versions free on Green and Extra Easy SW

Time to stop pratting around!

Okay, I started Slimming World again on 20th September 2012 weighing in at 21st 6.5lbs. As at 22nd November 2012 I am 19st, 10lbs.

I have lost weight every week for 8 weeks out of 9 (one week was a no change week), and my average weight loss over my 9 weigh-ins has been 2.5 lbs, so I feel I'm doing really well. I think that will change this week though because I've lost the plot, purely because my routine changed and I didn't prepare for it. So, I'm planning to use this account to get myself back on track and keep going. I'd like to lose a total of 3 stone by Christmas - totally do-able if I get my focus back. So, here goes :)

I had a delicious Orzo salad with sun dried tomatoes and vinegrette from M & S for lunch today - naughty, but very nice with a large, free garden salad. I figure I can easily do a SW friendly version if I look around as Orzo is tiny, rice-shaped pasta and it's free food. Off to find some receipes and store them here.
