I'm up today, which I'm not surprised because I was on vacation for 5 days at the beach with my boyfriend and his family. I’m very glad that it didn’t go up more. Despite not logging my food, I overall did quite well keeping my calories in check with just a couple splurges spread out. The bad news was I did consume a lot of carb filled and salty foods so I’m holding on to some water weight. I didn’t drink anywhere close to the amount of water that I do normally, and had many more alcoholic drinks than normal, and I can tell my body is out of whack because of it. After a couple days back to better eating habits and drinking more water, I think the little bit of extra weight will fall off quickly.
I was really proud of myself at the amount of exercise I got in over vacation. Daily I got a lot of walking and casual biking in, along with a really long kayaking session one day. It was the perfect combo of relaxation and fun exercise that I needed after being stressed out lately from work.
I can also tell that despite not really losing any weight over the past month, I am starting to see some small changes in my body. I have a little more definition in my arms and calf muscles, and my pants don’t fit quite as tightly as they did a couple weeks ago. It’s not a big difference, but it’s something and that makes me feel a little better because I have been sad that the scale hasn’t moved much since I began. Plus, my endurance with all exercise is increasing. Since I joined this site in May I have been trying to be healthier but have been making changes slowly. I know that if I changed too much too soon I would have never been able to stick with it. I can see how my daily habits are slowly evolving to include more exercise and I see myself naturally eating smaller portion sizes and reaching for healthier snacks. It may take me longer to get to my goal than I would like, but I know that I can get there eventually if I continue making the small changes to my lifestyle and just keep at it.
